Picked up a new toy. Here is a pic. 500bux, couldn't pass it up, even if it sits for a while.

Its got a 22re, that leaks oil pretty good, everything else on the truck is great. No rust, AC blows cold, sr5 package, Solid Axle, 240k, 5 speed, etc.

Most likely use it for the snow, camping, and hauling. The only thing that sucks is its white. All of my rigs are white now, and the last 3 ive owned were white as well. Oh well.

I am seriously jealous! I have always liked the older Toyota 4x4's. Those things will run forever.

you'd never be able to find an old toyo that looks that nice around here, especially for that price, nice buy.

updates, I ended up pulling the 22re out of the truck and replacing the long block with an 86 22r, then reswapped all the fuel injection onto the motor and swapped it back in.

The old 85 22re motor: which had lots of aluminum in the oil pan, which I suspect to be a timing chain stretched bad or the hydro tensioner went bad, and took out the cover with it. 240k.

still have a bunch to do until its running again, but it should be good to go for a while now. Will use this truck for the snow, and long haul trips that may require 4x4 and to replace my 1980 2wd with as I let my sister use it for a year or 2.

got everything finalized except the exhaust collector to the pipe. Doing that soon, started it with the straight header for a second and it was loud. Here is more pic whoring

love those toyota's spend like 2 grand into it i bet it will walk all over your chevy truck. i spent about that much and i can walk all over my dads blazer or mine anywhere but in the sand and some mud bogs.

Agreed, pretty capable the way it is, but 4 cylinders need the doubler more than my chevy does though, damn 4cyl.

...sigh...excuse me...

...spank spank spank spank spank spank spank...:D

Small update, but an update nonetheless...

Put an Optima red top battery in it from my other 2wd Toyota that I sold along with an alternator because the old one was pushing 17 volts:eek1:, and put a radiator in it as well along with a stereo. Went to DMV, paid the registration and got a temporarly operating permit. Went wheeling in it on last Sunday after thanksgiving, then smogged it on Monday, passed no problem even with the downey header...DMV wants a weight cert., so I got it weighted and its 3180, not bad for a 4x4, still learning how to wheel a stick though definately different.

The damn brakes are pissing me off, the only thing that is keeping me from complete registration is the brakes (brake and lamp inspection)...Petal goes to the floor, but the truck stops:confused:. Im about ready to pull the lspv(load-sensing) out of the rear and install an adjustable prop valve from summit and maybe a master cylinder if needed... The rear brakes are all adjusted and the fronts have new pads. I think I have all the air out of the system, cant get anymore bubbles out of the bleeders...

Damn, I can't believe this thing. Put about 10k miles on it since the used motor. Been a great truck. The master was the culprit on the brakes. I wish I had updates, but really nothing has broke on this thing yet. My next project is to go thru the front end and replace the inner axle seals and might as well rebuild the knuckle.

How hard/easy was it to swap to the fuel injection?
Looks nice, good deal for 500.00. And they dont break much.
I have had many toyota 4x4s and every one was great.

The truck already had fuel injection stock, so I just used a 86 carbed long block and swapped the entire fuel injection from the old 85 motor to the 86 long block and then dropped it in. It took me a couple days. I just sold the leaky 85 long block on craigslist for 100 bux. Wish I still had that big ass garage, Im in a small garage now...

oh yeah, the mudflaps are gone and I got a set of used but new tires for 120.00 bux. 225/75/15 timberline all terrains...

Right on.
I thought all 86 and up toyota 22re`s were injected. I know you could get a 85 maybe even an 84 with injection but they are harder to find.

Don`t matter.:D

Nice truck man!!

Close, but all 22re's are fuel injected. The e designation is for electronic injection, prior engines were the 22r. Toyota engine identifiers are pretty easy to understand, once you understand the lettering.

well some dickless piece of **** stole it yesterday, and now I have no ****ing truck. I hate thieves....

I self recovered my own stolen vehicle, it was rather random to see it drive by my work, so I followed and called the cops, its back!
