i have 78” blazer with a th350, np203.
If one were to buy a new transmission can anyone here recommend a particular company that sells good th350 for a 4x4 blazer.

If one were to switch to a 700r4, is it worth it?

1. What is your main usage for the truck?

2. Where are you at for tire size, and gearing?

3. What are your plans for the future with this truck?

For a general rebuild, I'd just find someone local that has good reviews. In the event theres any issues, you're not dealing with a shop many states away.

Mild driving, not heavy rock crawling. Desert and street driving.

37’ tires,
gearing I dont know. How to find out? I have 3/4ton axle.

Plans for the future of the vehicle, hopefully be able to afford to keep it running.

Cheap rebuilds aren't good. and good rebuilds aren't cheap

@supersize75k5 @Babaganoosh may be able to direct you to someone local. Greg Ducato does excellent work as noted, and he ships. It may likely be more than you wish to spend

Consider your budget, and good luck

Assuming that you probably have 4:10 gears in the axles, I personally would consider going to a 700R4. Most will think that I am crazy, but I have been running one behind a big block for years. In your truck, you probably won't need overdrive much, but the lower 1st gear ratio would help out in getting it moving.

BUT ! It would take some modifications and a special tailshaft to make it all work. This may not be what you have in mind.

The 700r4 has 3.06 1s gear compared to 2.52 on the th350. So you would leave from a stop or tow better. You need to match the the 700r4's output shaft to your t case, move your cross member, and modify the drive shafts. The 700r4 case is almost 2" longer than th350. food for thought.

@6872xtc beat me to it.

I just finished putting a 700r4 where a th350 was and it was a little harder because I have a doubler but it is still not easy.
I went with the shorter output shaft so I can go through the transmission and get it 2" shorter.
My good low miles th350 is for sale but I am in northern California .

Im in AZ.... shipping would be some $$$ Id assume. i am interested

If you can take the trans out yourself to get it rebuilt it’ll save a lot of money. I’d also go to a local trans shop that has good ratings and get it taken care of locally. I’d hate to have a problem and have to keep shipping a trans back and forth.
