I bought a new transmission pan for my 4L80E. It is a B&M PN# 70295 deep transmission pan, in order to clear the trans filter. I had to buy it because I put a Transgo shift kit separator plate into the valve body. Since the Transgo separator plate is almost 3/8" of an inch thick, it cause my stock pan to hit up against the filter. The pan also adds an extra 3-QT to the transmission fluid capacity.

@Greg Ducato is our tranny guy here .

I just asked him how to id a short or deep 4l80 pan .

said early years had deep pan/filter . newer ones little shorter filter and pan .

and I went different than you I got this one .

Yours does not have the cut-away for an exhaust cross over tube. I was going to get one like yours, but I have a single exhaust system, which requires the exhaust system to cross over to one side. With out the cut-away built into the pan, the exhaust system would not allow the pan to drop the low enough to clear the valve body and filter. If you are running dual exhaust and no cross over equalizer pipe your pan will be just fine.

well fine I will swap it for the other one just for your needs . . .:p:

the non-cut out section pan was early design and they have not offered it in years . I found both on ebay separate times for under 1/2 of new price . . . and the early style was new shelf display pan .

SO, you own both style pans to choose from. Like I said...at first I was going to go with the style pan in your first post, but after researching for images of deep 4L80E pans, I saw that many of them had the cut-away pan with an exhaust pipe crossing under them right at the pan cut-away. Thus, I figured I better go that way with my pan choice.

ya my new plow truck is getting a 4l80 and project stubby also .

found them for smoking deals so I didn't care if cross over notch or not . building exhaust from motor back any way .

your b&m pan should do just fine .

side note : if you ever pick up a mag-hytec pan this big there HEAVY
