any working truck that runs decent is worth at least $1k in my book so you definitely got a good deal

I would buy that for $500 just for the body, regardless of it it ran. nice truck.:waytogo:

Yes, that is a helluva deal. Especially if its rot free.

I heard those are 12 bolt full floater's, can anyone verify that?

yep, its not a 12bolt ff, its an eaton;) lot of them came with deep gears and a locker stock if i remember correcty. they are kinda rare. i forget if the shafts from a 14ff will work inside them or not?

Eaton..

I have an Eaton rear diff with coils under my 62 GMC 3/4 ton I made into a trailer..it has full floating axles and 4.56 gears(open I think, not posi?)...so yeah, they did make them in full floating versions--even with coil springs!..
I'd just assume put a straight trailer axle in it--its a waste of a good Eaton rear to just use it as a trailer axle in a way..

I'd check the rear control arms out good..I had to practically make new ones, mine were rotted badly--a common dilema for them around here..looks well worth 500 bones, you cant buy much of a 69 anything here for 500 bucks..good score!..

do the shafts interchange with 14b? i think i remember reading somewhere that they can

not sure...

I read that here awhile back to,but have no personal experience swapping them in..I think "Divorced" was the one who posted that ,not sure..someone here will probably know for sure..

hell yeah! $500 is a steal. 307 isnt a bad little powerplant, no powerhouse for sure but it'll get the job done for a DD/light hauler.

well its good to hear all of you approve. i have one question, you guys mentioned the axle and what it is. the guy i bought it from knows about axles but he said that this one stumped him, he could not figure it out. so can anyone tell me what exactly this axle is? you guys mentioned eaton and 14b but does anyone know for sure? and is it a rare find? and what kind of gearing and lock up can i expect?

I think I read , the 14bff Detroit will fit inside the open diff , then you can run 14bff shafts . Don't qoute me until someone verifies this !

I found a '62 sitting at Pick 'n Pull with the same rear end? Is it worth taking and cleaning up? It was 6 lug and had tiny drums, but looked the same.
