On my 87 K5 I am getting water in through pass side kick panel an notice if I spray hood area it leaks.
Any ideas to repair correctly?

Including a pic of the area.

So if that is just ahead of the vent hole, you have a windshield gasket leak.
I don't know why, but the picture looks a little like the kick panel vent hole.. which of course is open to the cowl.

I thought windshield to but seems to come from cowl. Plan on triple checking though. I do not have the kick panel on with vent closed but did not expect crap ton of water with it off just sitting.
Maybe I should paint and reinstall kick panel then go from there. Just hate to do all work then take back apart as get told I waste time.

There is a big flapper in the cowl that covers the entrance for that pocket. Might try cleaning it up. It's not meant to stop the water, but maybe it could slow it down

If it is inside the cowl/ kick panel vent, you will find water in there anytime that it rains, or wash it. It directs air down there for cab ventilation. You should have a door there to control it. If you have an A/C Truck, it would have been a vacuum controlled door. There would also be a flapper door inside the cowl to close it off for recirculate function. It opens when the engine is off, or not in "max A/C".
It won't stop water regardless...

our old trucks are drying up a lot now .

I have sealed up a few firewall seams under the wiper cowl in the wiper transmission area . sad part is you got to pull it all out to get room for your hands in there and its still kind of tight .

Explain this door more or pics cause I have the cowl off now. I don't see a flapper door. Need pics?

Kick panel I will paint and reinstall this week!

Guess next step is to bring vacuum tester home from work.

Can you still buy these new if it is bad?

Ok go it out it is stuck open and when you push closed can here vacuum from it.

First photo is how it should be right closed when off?
Secon pic is how it actually is stuck open

It has a spring in it to push it to one function when no vacuum is applied.
Test it with the hand vacuum pump, see if it moves/holds.
As you can tell, it won't stop water, plus it will only close off the cowl when in recirculate mode. Since you have both top and inside open, make sure that there is no trash on the cowl.
