After 22 years of ownership that Stihl has finally started to show its age. It will still run but it's awfully tired so I replaced it with a new Red Max 2030ts. The RM is a smooth MF'er and much quieter with effortless starting.

I've always been intrigued by RM for years but the Stihl never quit.

I also own an arsenal of Stihl stuff (handheld blower, pole chainsaw and regular chainsaw) but none of it really feels as solid as the older Stihl stuff and once they began selling at Northern I just felt like it was going downhill so jump ship we shall. I'm in need of a backpack blower and I've heard some good things about the RM ones so I might get one next year. I don't use my current blower all that much but it's 13 years old and I'd rather have a backpack blower sooooo....maybe soon.

That's my problem too, my stihl stuff never quits so I never get to buy new stuff. Do you run the 93 ethanol free?

I would get carb issues on the reg gas, even ethanol free. The 93 octane seems to fix that. Worth the 3$ gallon I paid for it last time. I bet it's north of 5 now. Good to know about the red max. I'll check those out if any of my stuff ever punks out

I will say that I ran 87 when I was poor up until around 2010 when I became slightly less poor and now I can afford the good stuff.

So maybe the gas then wasn't as bad.

Anyways, that Stihl has never been in a shop either. Just added gas. I *think* I remember changing the spark plug once years back.

Red Max is only brand other than Stihl I see on the landscaper’s trailers. That speaks volumes. If it lasts for them using it every day it will last me for years using it once a week.

Hopefully so! Now I just need some rain so my grass will grow so I can go out and use it.

My old Stihl is dying.. bought a new Echo, that takes attachments.
Bought an edger, and a pruning saw.
Love it. The Stihl still trims good, so I put a brush blade on the Echo for the thick stuff.

Makes short work of the business....

I switched to cordless. I have a lot of 20 Volt Dewalt stuff, so it made sense to me. I have no desire to go back to gas.
