New Winch and carrier!

Well i read a thread a while back and it had a link to ebay bout the 12000lb winch. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=120163747233&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=120158661034&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget just got it unpacked. also bought the mount for the reciever. the winch was just as pictured on ebay and looks nice. $359.00 Shipped to my door. the carrier i got for $99.00. looks good and sturdy. im gona put it all together this weekend and hopefully find something to try it out on! I know you guys probly think im crazy but guess we will see. hey if it dont pull my truck up a hill or out of a ditch it will surely pull a car up on the trailer.

I was just talking with my starter and alternator guy the other day, and he said "hey im building winch motors too". Then he told me it dont realy matter what winch you get the quality of the motor is what realy counts and he could make any winch more powerful. So I dunno I would think if the drive is good and solid you could always have the motor built better.
Also the relays and chit.

cool sounds good if i need the motor built ill pm you. i would assume its gona work fine the way it is. guess ill be the guiney pig and try it and let everyone know.

before I sold my tahoe, I took my hydro winch off and the way i had it setup it looked goofy as hell without a winch(custom mount). So I bought the same winch as you got but in a 9K. I paid like 270 and it looked good and just told myslef I wont use it so it works when the truck sells and looks good. long story short that little winch drug that heavy ass tahoe across dry ground for a long ways....I was impressed, dont know about longevity though...im interested in how it works for you

That sure looks a lot like a Tmax winch. The only difference is the motor is 6.0HP vs the 6.6 for the Tmax. I looked at some of the others and they all look identical to the Tmax Let us know how it works.

well wasted yet another weekend! decided it was so nice out we took the dirt bikes out all afternoon then of course on the way home hit a bump in the road blazer died. so after pushing and tryin to figure out what was wrong. ie no power to the fuel pump and bout 2 hrs tracing grounds and starter wires fuses and getting agravated. finally found the problem. wire from batt to back of alt. corroded and broke off! 2 min fix and back on the road. needless to say i was a lil peeved. unload everything and mounted the winch in the carrier but i dont have it wired up yet. maybe ill run down to the shop and hook it up tomarrow. have off work but low on fuel. and not much funds left. but ill let you know as soon as i get it hooked up and try it out.
