Hey Guys, I’m new here and have a weird question. Maybe it’s something I’m just missing but any and all help is appreciated.

I have my 1984 K5 body off the frame and want to strip the frame to powder coat it. However, I can’t get the driver side rear wheel to roll forward, all the other wheels have no problem rolling forward and backwards, but the driver side rear wheel will not roll forward. I have the rear driveshaft disconnected. I assume the brakes aren’t locked because it rolls backwards no problem. Any help or insight would be awesome. Need to roll this thing onto a trailer.

If it rolls backward and not forward then it’s more than likely the e-brake is seized on that side and won’t disengage. Needs to pull the drum off and have a look. Might take some persuasion with a BFH to remove the drum though.

I kind of thought the ebrake but why would it go backwards with ease and not forward?

That's the way drum brakes work. They self actuate going forward, which makes them bite harder.

Just above you, Calgary, Alberta. And “Eh” goes at the end of the sentence. :waytogo:

Well I took that tire off and got the drum off, spun immediately. Thanks for all help guys. My first time on this forum and you guys responded quick with the right answers. Much appreciated. I’m sure I will have plenty more questions for you over the span of my build.

I'm just three hours up the highway from you in Edmonton...welcome to CK5!

Not quite sure to be honest. The drum came off relatively easy. As soon as I took the lugs off the tire it seemed to loosen. So just for shits and giggles I tightened the tire back on and it wouldn’t go forward again. So I’m not quite sure what was going on. But I just left the drum off for now so I can wheel it around. Getting all new brakes done before assembly anyway.
