Hey guys. I just got the awsome 84. And i am stunned as to how well it performs off road. It cant reach all of the places my rock crawler can, *to wide* but hell if it dosent want to:)
Heres what i got, followed with a few quick questions.

84 k5 with a 350, brd .30 and D stroked, racing cam and throttle body fuel injection.
bran new aod transmission with very low gears, shifter kit and less then 500 miles on the whole set up:):)
corp 12 in the rear with detroit locker, and corp 10 up front. Alloy shafts all the way around. 6" of lift and 35" mudders.
*big grin*
Muhahaha! This rig kicks a$$

Any way, to the questions...
the interior is, well, crap. And i am wondering whare i can get a new dash, and instrument cluster cover.
the steering box has had it, and i wondering how mutch a new one might run. and, if anybody has installed one, how hard is it to bleed the box?
last question, who makes a good shackle reversal kit for the front?

Thats it:) Thanks in advance.

As for the shackle flip... I recommend the link above of Offroad Design. If you have any questions about their products you can go back to the main forum menu and click onto the Offroad Design link where the owner himself will share all the info on his products you could ever need...

. Uhhhh it came right from the factory. ORD has longer shackles available that are grease able.
The preload on the box is adjustable. Loosen Jam nut on top of the box and give the alen key a turn and that will take some slop out. DO NOT GO CRANKING ON THAT! you can over load it and damage it. 1/2 to 1 turn should be more than enough. Auto ZOne sells the seals and you can reseal the box for $15. Bleeding is as simple as filling the resivior. Put the front axles on jack stands. Slowly turn lock to lock a couple times. shut it down check the fluid level. If it has bubbles let it sit for 10-15 min till they float out. do that a couple times and it's fine.
Hit ORD and one of your first purchaces should be a the Steering brace. BIG IMPROVMENT! Also get under the truck and check for any missing or loose rivits where the crossmembers join the rails. Big tires and heavy off road will pop a few out over time. Front 2 crossmembers take a pretty good beating.
Sounds like a well built truck.

Welcome to the ADDICTION!!!
Grim is right no need for shakel reversing on the front like the Heepers do! But do get the ORD heavyduty shakels!! Stock ones are whimpy!
The steering box is about 175 from Napa. It is a rebuild so a core chrege will apply. A brand new box can be bought from ARG but hella$$$$.

Welcome to the circus!! Ditto on the steering brace - go with ORD's, AutoFab also makes one, but it doesn't fit as well. Also try:

<a target="_blank" href=http://www.chevyduty.com>Chevy Duty</a>
and
<a target="_blank" href=http://www.cheyennepickup>Cheyenne Pickup Parts</a>
for your interior pieces.

Special thanks to those lost from IAFF Locals 94 and 854 - You shall never be forgotten

Thanks all. I went ahead and boxed/ renforced the steering box frame, and the frame around the rear shock mounts. I hear that they are prone to cracking. Bad news though, the 350 aparently just lost a ring. :( smoking somwhat now. sucks for a new truck. SOOoo, its time to do my first tear down on a chevy with in a few days. should be fun. o.O
Oh, and If anybody is in the Reno Nevada area, and wants to wheel, drop me a line. Im running out of victems, err, wheeling buddies :)
