thick gears what are they and what are there purpose



the reason I ask is that I need gears... 4.56's to be specific for a 4.10 geared Dana 60 and a 3.73 geared 14/ff they both have detriots curently so i'd like not to buy new lockers for the new gears is this where "thick" gears come in to play??? if so what are the downsides??

they dont make thick gears for chevy d60's. only ford 60's. and i believe you can get thick 456 for your current carrier in the 14b, but im not sure

Ya, the front you will need a new carrier along with the 4.56's you put in since they dont make thick D60 gears so you'll have to get a new detroit...

For the rear, i think the thick gears would work, but you'd have to double check with Randys or a similar shop...

they do make gear spacers though. Although check around I found a guy that needed a 4.10 and down limited slip and he had a 4.56 and up detriot presto chango we both got what we want
