Hello, all.. I just ordered an 84 K5 Silverado today, should pick up Fri or sat. This will be my wife's daily driver, so I'm looking fwd to gaining and sharing experiences here as I maintain and improve it

Good-looking truck! Nice car to give to wife. What do you drive
I have an Infiniti QX60 as my "family trickster" DD, and a '93 Vette for fun

Looks like it's in great shape! You going to do anything with it or just drive it as-is?
Thanks, it really is - looked around for a while before biting on this one.. gonna keep it mostly unchanged with some ongoing resto. Dash pad and carpets first..
I think the rear window motor/regulator might need attention.. steering feels a little loose even for a truck, but linkages look fine.. heard about a newer Jeep shaft swap (?) and replace/upgrade the stabilizer shock up front..
Just to start.. along with whatever other surprises she might throw my way.. look forward to sharing and consulting here :D

Yea, I was wondering if there was something under that carpet dash pad or not. The NOS dashes are pretty expensive now, and will likely require a vinyl paint to match. But it is nice to have if you can find one.

Carpet, ACC is a real nice replacement. I got mine from stockinteriors.com. They can send you a carpet sample too for picking the right color. I matched under my seat where the least amount of fading happened.

The Jeep steering shaft does help. Check for frame cracks at steering box too. There is a weld-in fix for this common problem. You could also add a steering brace to give it more support.

Nice truck
Don't spend any money on it until you've got a few thousand miles racked up. Rock the dash and carpet as is for now. Nothing like using money to polish a potential turd.
It will till you where it wants the money spent :D
(engine/trans mounts, fluid changes, brakes, steering, leave spring bushings, misc repairs)
