Newbie needs help!!!

I'm completely new to this and was wondering where i should start on building my own trailworthy k5? remember i'm young and not exactly loaded with cash. . i'm planning on purchasing a late 70's to early 80's model.

Start by reading here for a while. Look at the gallery, decide what you are going to usethe truck for. Then ask specific questions and the members here will be happy to help you along.

Most of what i'll be doing with my rig is allot of trail riding some mud and a littel rocks, what kind of setup should i use?

you might want to save your pennies and shop a lot and get a 87 or newer K5... they have FI. In my experience, that'd be the only part that survived the build up anyway. my engine, trans, tcase, axles and damn near everything else that costs more than $100 is aftermarket. If I had FI stock though, I woulda kept my engine...

Best way to do it is get some experience wheelin it stock and then decide what to buildup.... if you want to mud bog it, lift it 4 or 6 inches and put some good tires under it. If it needs more power after the bigger tires head down to kragen and get a manifold, cam, headers.... you get the idea. Good luck dude...
