Newbie question on Trans fluid

I need to top of the fluid on my 89 burb. It has the 700R4 Trans. I have a bunch of trans fluid around the clean up shop where I work. Just wanted to be sure that it's fine on regular trans fluid. Nothing special needed for these trannies?

GM Transmissions use Dexron fluid only!

it should tell you on the dipstick....but Dex II or III I believe.

Thanks for the tips. I checked the dipstick and it say to "use dexcron II E Only" What does the E indicate?
