Newbie with a transmission issue pics of the destruction

Ok another question how do the spacers go in the transmission crossmember from the factory my crossmember was flush with the frame should it have been spaced down with the spacers. Almost ready to put the transmission in it so making sure I do it right.

do NOT space the crossmember down with the 4 tube looking spacers . this will blow out the frame rail lips .

its crossmember flat to frame rails and bolt with tube on them and nut to hold tight.

I think those tubes are just there so they could use longer bolts for proper stretch. They aren't used for spacing anything except the head of the bolts.

htere was a web site ill look for it that tells you to use those when putting a 700r4 in. ill try and find it.

never factory .

some dumb arss prob said it when swapping in tranny and dropping to help correct rear driveline angles .

like said it blows the frame out . also it helps the rear driveline angle but kills the front . as one goes down the other goes up .

and a 700r4 is longer than a th350 so different holes will need to be used or drilled.

I've seen a bunch of pics with it spaced down right now I put it in spaced down I didn't like how close it was to the floor pan maybe the energy suspension mount is pushing it up higher than factory. Doesn't make sense that they would put spacers in there for proper bolt stretching. Not hard to change either way. I get the different driveline angles to lower the back it raises the front so it's a win/loose ughhh decisions decisions. Either way just gotta put some new u joints in the driveshafts and shove a transfer case in there and hope it works out. Didn't pay much for the transmission so playing the lottery and seeing if it will actually work. If not I have seen a sm465 on craigslist and there are some transmission/t case setups on here forsale I will do a manual swap.

Go back and do it correctly. Those spacers are for torque only, they are not meant to lower the transfer case.

If you do want to swap in an SM465, look for an SM465/NP208 combo (or better yet, but quite rare, an SM465/NP241).

Looks like I either need a new transfercase or rebuild my current one the shaft that the driveshaft slides on to is a bit drunk and out of round I have the 241c but it looks like I still have a cable driven speedometer. Will a 208 bolt in I know I loose a bit of gearing

yes the bolts are the same..but I'd try to find a used 241c out of a dodge if I was looking for another TC. those came with a standard yoke instead of the slip yoke.

The slip yoke was designed by the same guy who thought the pinto's gas tank was in a good spot.

I was hoping I could get something bolt in and not have to have a driveshaft made lol
