Anyone running a disc brake 10 bolt 1/2 ton axle (I assume from the post 92 trucks) on their Blazers/trucks. I have the opportunity to pick one up (well it's getting delivered tomorrow) and I'm wondering if the shock mounts and spring perches are the same. TIA

John

only came with disc rears on 99 and up trucks.

also have an 8.625 inch ring gear and i think 30 splines.

is a good idea i think, would like to see someone try it.

Is the axle from a '92 or newer truck? No, the spring perches won't line up.

Thanks, that was the answer I was looking for. I have no idea what year the axle is from, but since it is disc brake equipped. i assume later than 92

Skulz, read this reply again. disced rears are 99+

Yeah, that's what I meant. Later as is newer. thanks though. I have absolutely no knowledge of the axle I'm getting, other than it is a 10 bolt w/ discs.

I'm sure with a little :grind: :weld: :hack: it can be made to work without too much trouble.

If nothing else.. just cut and grind everything off the tubes until they are clean, and weld in the spring perches and shock mounts where you need 'em. :waytogo: I doubt it will be too hard if someones willing to take the time to make it work.

Is it going in a stock application? What size tires are you going to run on it? Eventhough its a little bigger, and we havent had too many newer (99+) 10 bolts blow up, its still a 10 bolt, and if it has a gov lock, its just gonna go earlier, assuming you are going to use big tires. The discs with parking brake will be nice though.

Not quite stock. 35" MTRs. Oh yeah, I am all too aware of the Gov bomb. For that matter, I haven't been very kind to an an open rear 10 bolt either. I'm just hopin' to get 2-3 trips out of it until the 14 bolt (I can already see the flak over that statement comin') goes in this spring. My Torquemonster 305 has already claimed 3 ten bolts, but the $$ has been right, and the fun has been had.
