Just scored a Complete SRW ff 14 bolt with disk brakes out of a 2??? chevy truck(dont know wich model or exact year because it was on a frame with no cab and smashed bed) for $70
The only part number on the carrier is AAM40012325 and R040623C an some random number on the ring gear.My question is how can i find out what gears and carrier do i have?
Thanks

what are the numbers on the ring gear? write them down, to to pavementsucks.com on the chevy forum its a sticky thread that says "what gears do i have?" and they have the break down of all the codes. Or just simply divide the 2 small numbers on the end of the big line of numbers. usually like 11-41 or sumthing to that effect

the first AAM number would be the same as the GM part number for the ring gear so you could call a dealer and have them look up that part number, the second set is for batch info i can tell the gears came from Detriot plant #2

Just a thought but if the VIN is still available or on the frame anywhere you can just call a GM dealership, give them the VIN, and they can tell you what gears it had, which diff it had, etc etc.

It's goind under a 1980 K5, The install wont be for at least a month still have to put gears, locker and relocate the perches. The other thing holding me back is locating a SRW D60 front in texas DFW area, if i cant extremeaxlesales.com quoted me $1250 shipped.

Are you planning on using a adj valve and/or different master cyl? Also, are you hooking up the parking brake?

Yeah...im pretty sure yuo have the 11.5 AAM axle...hence the AAM stamped on the ring gear.

From what i know i though the 14bolt was not made anymore...

Still exists today in 10.5" and 11.5" upgraded form. GM and Dodge use it now.

The normal 14 bolt still is made, GM used the standard version and no dodge uses a new version that did away with the two part carrier, The 11.5 only goes in GM trucks that have the Dmax the 10.5 goes in any HD gas truck, the axle will be around for many years to come. I was actually in detriot plant 3 that makes the 10.5 about a month ago so i know for sure there still around

The BEEG Dodges get the 11.5" as well. Think the Power Wagon might also.

the power wagon gets the 10.5 and the 1 tons get the 11.5 mass optimized which is the same gears as the GM one but has a different center section
