so i have been fighting this for awhile, i have a 2007 chevy silverado classic, 5.3 4wd

truck has been throwing a PO172, PO175 both are running rich codes.

so i took it to the chevy dealer and they said the computer was reading 45% alcohol in the fuel when there is really only 10%.

so they re set it and said that it should be fine.

well its been setting the codes again so i took it back and they said it was the same problem due to my Edge chip causing the computer to read wrong. not wanting to argue with them i contacted edge and asked them. they said it was very unlikely but a simple way to tell would be to just uninstall the chip and see if it comes back.

well i did uninstall the chip and im still having the same problems. So what could it be? what should the dealership look at fixing or replacing?

Check your oil to see if the crank case is overfull and has gas in the oil. If there is gas in the oil or it smells strongly of gas you are going to want to inspect and clean or replace your spark plugs. Then check the Bank 1 Sensor 1, and Bank 2 Sensor 1 Heated O2 sensors for contamination. Replace them if contaminated.

I'm assuming this is a Flex Fuel vehicle. So when you do this you are going to want to add about 3 gallons of regular 87 Octane gas before starting.

EDIT: Change your oil if contaminated with gas!

There is a TSB on a reprogram for the flex fuel sensor. Did they look at this when the dealer had it?
