could that be thanks to the diesel fuel today? he never ran additives..

yep...pretty much no lube in the ULSD stuff at the pumps now.

sulfur = lube = bad tail pipe

low sulfur = less lube = better tail pipe

ulsd = bad no lube = best tail pipe.

dumb a$$ epa crap.

used atf huh thats new one on me.. itnt there someone on here who sells some additive?

Bulk 2 cycle oil was suggested to me. If I recall correctly, about 1 oz per 10 gal (should have written it down).

4x4bygod used to sell additives here but no more.
As for ATF it's just like anything else a lubricant, but I don't like to use it because it also has some friction modifiers that I believe will be bad for the pump.
I have yet to try the 2 stroke oil, but in theory it should be good, and it is the cheapest option out there.
It will be good for the pump, but not sure it will help in other issues the real additives deal with like gelling in low temps, and raising the cetane rating.

ok imiceman what do you use??
I used the ones Tom 4x4bygod was selling till he stopped, then I was using a brand the truck stops had called muscle, but not anymore so I am switching to Power Service, you can get these at Walmart and most truck stops.

I use the Power Service Diesel Kleen stuff. Mainly because it was all I could ever find in Michigan and Kentucky at Walmart, Meijers, NAPA, and all the other parts stores. Seems to work or at least not make the engine die in a ball of fire immediately.

Previously I ran and loved the stuff that 4x4xGod sold but after he left the company I couldn't find it anywhere in small enough quantities or the good prices he had. Ended up giving up on a really great product in frustration.
