Got a question on a newer rig, my buddy's got a 98 tahoe with the 5.7 vortech and not sure what kind of tranny is in those things but when driving and get to about 45-50 MPH and let off the gas feels like you hit a bump or like a lunging forward feeling. Also does it at low RPM's but mostly when you let off the gas and it does'nt feel like a hard downshift. Checked tranny fluid after wheeling and it was good.

Also the check engine light is for a cam sensor, not sure what that is or does but could have to do with wierd lunging??

that would be a 4L60E tranny, it could be your torque converter clutch engagin harder than it should, it might have something to do with the cam sensor code, you defently want to take care of the cam sensor though if it is bad

Its the distributor. It tells the PCM when #1 is up on TDC and is used in misfire diagnosis.

If the intake manifold gaskets were recently replaced it could just be installed wrong or out of time (the distributor).

it might be able to but im not 100 percent sure, it depends on how the PCM determins lock up, if it uses engine speed and the cam sensor is bad it might cause a harsh or early lock up, but this is just a guess
