idk if this is new tech but my neighbor informed me that the newer model (97 body style) starters fit the older sbc engines. This is coming from a reputable drag race/ engine builder/ crew chief. Lighter, gear reduction and can get in and out with tight fitting headers. I'm doing this as I need a starter right now anyways but I figured I'd just pass it along.
