I just got a newer style SM465 with the aluminum top and hydraulic bellhousing from the junkyard. It came out of a 91-92 model new body style truck with a 6.2.

Will the clutch and brake pedal assembly from this truck work in my 82 K5? I have hydraboost brakes and the junkyard truck did as well. If not what should I look for to get the pedals I need?

Thanks:D

Thanks for the reply. I don't feel bad about leaving them behind now.

The only reason I knew about the short shift 465 was from your post:bow: I read it a few days before going to the junkyard. Thanks for the good info.

Hopefully I can locate a pedal assembly. They seem to be scarce around here. Should I get the crossmember as well or can I reuse my th400/208 crossmember?

Thanks again:D

The 91-92 crossmember won't work for you.
Depends which adapter you are using; short(85-87(91), or tall (81-84).
If you are using the tall adapter, you need a "flat" crossmember.
If you are using a short adapter, you need either a single or double hump crossmember.

edit; here's the crossmember you need;

Thanks again for the info Jimbo. Here are some pics of the trans, bellhousing and adapter. I am looking forward to getting this thing installed and trying out granny low. (Just to note I am going from stock 10 bolts with 3.08s and a TH400 to CUCV 1 tons with 4.56 and this trans with low....should be exciting:D )

Unfortunately it looks like someone has had the top cover off before. It had rtv all over it and is missing one of the bolts. What should I look for if I take the cover off to inspect the internals?

Is this slave cylinder considered external or internal? Will the passenger side location work without much trouble?

The shifter is pretty sloppy and I think this has something to do with it. I think I am going to have it welded up and machine the slot back in.

And a quick shot of my axle donor truck...:D

That is considered an external slave, as it can be replaced without removing the transmission. The internal slaves are integral with the throwout bearing.
I can't answer if it will clear for sure, I do know it won't clear unless you have at least 4 inches of lift on the front axle.

That portion of the shifter is mild steel--you can weld it up with a mig, and file it to size. Just be sure to lube it with a moly based grease, and your repair will last longer.

Re: Missing bolt on top cover. At least one, if not two places there are alignment pins. Kinda looks like a missing bolt if not cleaned really good.

You could swap the bellhousing out with a 85 - 87 (91) bellhousing, they are still hydraulic, but put the slave on the other side of the truck.
