ok so my dad went out and bought a new truck yesterday, 1999 GMC sierra sle, its a really clean well kept truck with all the oil changes written down and the miles when it was changed along with any parts replaced. the only thing im worried about is its a 1/2 ton truck with about 6 inches of lift under it and running 35's ( all terrians ), i know the old GM truck 10 bolt axles can handle 35's with no problem but what about the front. is there anything i should be worried about or pay attention to about wearing out or breaking. this is mainly a street truck and wont see much off road action ( until i get ahold of it :D ). and with the bigger tires on it should it be driven in tow/haul mode for a firm shift, ive heard of that befor on these model trucks when there lifted.

88-up ifs = check ball joints / wheel bearings / idler arm's & pitman arm.

99-up new body ifs = check inner tie rods / idler arm's & pitman arm / wheel bearings. ball joints not as bad as the older ones.

to check ball joints and wheel bearings correctly. take floor jack and pick up lower control arm with weight on truck. like changing tire. stick 3 ft bar under tire and pry up. if play watch were its from ball joints or wheel bearing.

then with tire off the ground wiggle tire back and forth to check the tire rods for play.

if abs light comes on for any reason its prob front wheel bearing going out . vary comon problem.

and only other thing on 99-up i see a lot is exaust manifold to head bolts break off. but i see you got body lift in truck so easy to fix. and looks like torsion key kit or bars cranked to max with body lift for 35" to fit.

otherwise nice truck and 35" on it for dd use is fine other than less gas mileage.

and fyi if you want to make the truck handle better and eat less parts in the front end read here. http://cognitomotorsports.com/store/GM_6-Lug_4WD_Truck.html
