Ok, well I know your all tired of this, but here goes again.
Firstly, the Dodge. A friend of mine bought a 95 Dakota that had a factory infinity headunit, (real fancy thing, CD player, equalizer, etc.) but it didn't work in his truck, the backlights would come on, and that was it, no sound or display, just like the ones I tried. He got a new radio and we decided to toss the old one in my truck, I know it didn't work, but I figured it was a change of scenery. I put it in there, and it seems like its dead as a doornail, but when I crank the volume up to max I get static out of the speakers, and when I hit the seek, scan, or tune buttons, the static goes away for about a third of a second as if it is actually changing station. If I mess with the equalizer the tone of the static will change. If I put a CD in it, it will take it, but spit it back out after about 5 seconds. I can even change the fade and balance of the static with the knob.
Any Ideas?
Now for the Blazer, I pretty much have decided that the old Alpine radio is just crap, The display will work every now and again, and would keep presets, but no matter what wouldn't make any sound. So I was looking on Amazon and found a radio that will fit in the factory, uncut radio hole with USB for under $20, so I'm considering buying it. They also have a couple of speakers I could mount to the bottom of the dash for a little over $20.
