Alright my bro just got an 89 K5 Silverado ed. My k5 isnt a silverado so i we were wondering what the heck is the thing that is next to the engine compartment light that says Retract with a lil like knob to turn. Its on the firewall.

Its just a little light. Quite handy at night, you can pull it out and see stuff under the truck and so on with it

Make sure before you pull it out you lift the little plastic locking lever.. That's if somebody has not broke it off already .IIRC it has 20 or 25ft of cord so it can reach the rear wheels with no problem..

I wish mine had that light. Could have used it a couple times but Since the first time I was stuck in the dark I carry a 4-Dcell maglight. That and Meijers has a little light that you can plug into your cig lighter! HAs a magnet so you can stick it anywere

That little light is so handy. After having a truck with it for almost 10 years, I was pissed when I bought my first new body style (99+) and no light. That was one of the best things about buying the Blazer. I was so pumped when I realized it was there. Seems stupid I know but I love little gadgets/
