Well i have my 4" lift in the mail, tires already picked out just gotta save for them a lil more.. what else is good to do to your k5 to make it work well offroad but it still is used as a DD.. Thanks mike

locker for the rear as long as your not heavy on the gas on the street, consider your running 10blts under there

I drive mine to work all the time . 4 inches, 33's, ORD disconnects, ORD steering brace ( must have !! ) , shackle flip, brake lines , and Genuine Gear Quic Loc in rear( made by tractech , its a Detroit EZ Locker ) .

This combo kicks some butt off road /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif You are going to rub a bit fully stuffed with the swaybar disconnected , but it won't hurt anything. The ORD disconnects are easy after you've run them awhile, just grease the frame bushings. A rear locker makes it easy to feel like superman. The steering brace will help prevent frame cracks , which could happen anyway with larger than 35's /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

what exactly do rear lockers do? keep the tires spinning at all times? or prevent that?

Well with a stock open rear, when one tire loses traction it spins and the other one gets NO power. A rear locker will power BOTH wheels all the time when in off road situations preventing that, while still unlocking on hard ground around corners for driving to work . A rear locker will make the truck seem unstoppable /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

Yea the sterring brace is a MUST. I think you should get and install that ASAP. Frame cracks are a PITA and very expensive. I had to pay more than 1200$ to fix mine. Now I have the brace and keep it tightened up so I shouldnt ever have a problem again.

OK, I can understand that. Well you have a lift coming , thats good first step. I would save the rest for the tires. You don't have to have a locker right away, it just makes it easier and opens up more trails to you. You can save for that. The steering brace is not too bad if you put aside some each payday , then get it later this summer or something ( but please get a brace soon ). Disconnects also can be done at a later date, just unbolt yours before you wheel , unless you are comfortable without it. I actually took my Blazer in some cool stuff at stock height, it was fun.

Enjoy yourself, do what you can when you can, in a short time ( time will fly now that your 18 unfortunately ) you could have an awesome blazer /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Obviously you have come to the right place. Just take your time, and keep asking questions and keep your eyes open for deals. Welcome! /forums/images/graemlins/waytogo.gif

yeah the steering brace is def. my number one upgrade, even before i asked these questions i reasearched some stuff on this board and others and a cracked frame would SUCK!!! How much would u sell your brace for? Thanks a lot guys! Mike /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
