OK I can't find the original post where I went and got my cheap door for parts.

I was going to gut it and get the power window motor and power lock out with the glass. Here is a picture of it when I got it.

It had carpet trim on lower section it was a Silverado trim level.

SO today I start to gut it and what should appear before my eyes!

Lower right hand side where the carpet was look what has been painted over.

The only rust on the door!

I saw this little sticker and was dannnnnnng! GM NOS tag... So a little clean up and prep to the door it will be a great back up door.

So I got the goodies and one hell of a great buy on a GM tagged door.

I also just bought another $50 door off a 1991 burban with power set up.

He also had the drivers but damaged So when I get there I am going to offer him $20 for it. Gut it and have the wires for power set up for the drivers side too.

I might even pick up some other parts. :doah:

Like the siggy says Yeap I am a cheap ......... :haha::haha::haha:

There for a minute i thought you were going to show a bag of dope that someone hid inside the door.

I had a car given to me years ago by a friend who was given the car by his "connection" and i stripped the car for the engine/trans and before i dumped it i was looking for loose change and what not and found a LARGE bag of nope (white powdery substance) hidden in the front seat fold down armrest that was gutted. :eek1: I quickly wanted nothing to do with that car all of a sudden.

Ok, I'm dumb and not a collector or a restoration guy. What's special about this tag?

It shows it is an actual GM Collision Parts door and not a thiner slightly off aftermarket part. Some people prefer Actual GM sheet metal feeling it is better quality and last longer than after market NON GM.

In the past the body lines were not that good and fitment was rough in the after market panels.

Also a NEW OLD STOCK never installed door sells for around $500 each when they are sold.

I have a NOS door in the box still, brand new

I wonder what it's worth

Nothing to me....
Put it on eVilBay if your serious. Last one I saw went for $500.00

It probably was a collision part from when the truck was newer. I just sold a set of factory power doors on the bay for $125 that had no rust. A fey years back when I parted my Jimmy I sold that power set with no rust or dents for $400 on the bay. I can buy clean rust free dorrs all day long for $50 so I don't really worry about keeping any of them.

Kinda the same story here...
The other day in prep for the move to phx i pulled twin 90/91 front doors out of my pile in the back forty. A friend had brought them to me free as he saved them from the crusher as he knew i was looking for and doors with the 90-91 only power mirrors. This was a good 5 years ago as well. The first surprise was after owning these vehicles and playing with the parts for so many years i was shocked to find the GM plastic vapor barriers only found under door panels when something is brandy new....
I have never seen this on the old R/V series. Second surprise was that the guts (power) of both doors was mint. When i say mint i mean almost new...everything was zinc chromate....even down to the window sashs that hold the glass....score!

If you run across any 90/91 doors with the harness's still in them like that silver door but with the power mirror option i'd like to buy the harness and the dorr bellows that protects the wires if they are not chopped up....ie....rubber bellows cut = junk....door harness cut....repairable.
