I pulled up to the office this morning and saw this beauty sitting down the sidewalk. I walked down and talked to the guy that leases the suite from us. He didn't know much about the truck and kind of acted like he was embarrased to be driving it:doah:. He said it was his Dad's and he was driving it until his car was out of the shop.

It has "Heavy Half" on the rear of the bed and the thing is very clean. What's the story behind the "Heavy Half" C10? I'm guessing a late 70's truck.

I worked with a guy in 1981 That had a 1979 Heavy Half, he said it was a 5/8 ton version, heavier springs etc than a standard 1/2 ton. I'm not sure about all that but it did have a factory 454, TH-400 and 3.42 gear. It was a beast for its time.

Just like a "Big Ten". Only available in 2wd. It was mainly just a way to get around emissions.

That's interesting. I didn't think that it was much of anything. Beautiful truck though. Don't get to see many like that anymore. The thing was spotless down to the factory rallies.

They don't all have 454's. That was just an option. Most had small blocks. The last year or two were not available with a big block.

The standard gearing in 1979 with a 454 was 2.76. The deepest option was 3.40.
