On my 81 k5

305 AC Delco rebuilt motor...
Edelbrock 1406 performer carb
Edelbrock performer intake
Heddman headers

New TH350
New NP208

Thats about all I've done to it so far, other then reset the timing which was WAY off when I got it...

Bought this NOS shot for my supercharged pontiac but am thinkin of putting it in the 81 K5 till I get my new rotating assembly back for my pontiac...

Hurt very much ya think?

sure she will be fine on the long perfect running 305 engine.

best save it for the pontiac.

n2o is good for up top power. 4x4 trucks for the most part need bottom end power.

I put nitrous on my stock 350 80 chevy ( 60/14 bolt 5:13 lockers front & rear ) for doing tug of wars with other trucks that came to the Richfield Colisium. A ford with a built 460 challenged me so I bought a nitrous kit. He had 44 groundhawgs and I ran 44 mudders. I had the nitrous work with a button I could control and not under the pedal The dirt was kind of gooey and he ended up breaking both rear axels and 1 front. They had to tow him out of the colisium. The crowd went CRAZY. That was MY BIG day as a CHEVY owner.

When you add nitrous you need more fuel. So when you turn on the nitrous how are you going to add more fuel?

It comes with another solinoid that you have to plumb another fuel line to so it adds more fuel when the nitrous is activated. Thru an under the carb spacer.

more then likely the kit will not support the 305 cid, check the kit install sheet it will tell you how many liters it will support. you wont have the correct jets,a small hit will be ok and not to hard on the engine. pm me if you need more info if you like.

what ever you do, only juice it at WOT and not at too low of rpms. Its my personal experience though that you can put nitrous on anything and have it work out well, just dont over do it on the amounts. Youre most likely going to need to find a way of retarding your timing while spraying like some kind of an msd box or something

Nitrous can do some amazing things with power but it is VERY HARD on an engine. A turbo or blower is alot easier on an engine than Nitrous and will make more power for a longer period of time. Nitrous is instantaneous power which "shocks" the crank, rods, and pistons whereas a Turbo or Blower are gradual which doesn't have that "shock" effect like nitrous does.

Oh my so many different opinions...

It's a brand new kit for a 3.8 V-6 but I got an old kit my buddy had in his bog truck and my new kit i can hybrid together I only want to put my little 50 shot jets on it so I don't overkill it. I plan on 75-100 hp shot jets for my 3.8 series 2 when she's done, but my girlfriend and I are getting a new house. I'm sure you know how that goes.

I JUST CAN'T STAND LOOKING AT ALL THIS CRAP IN MY GARAGE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO USE IT!

nitrous is the shizz nit put all the nitrous you can on that sucker

Edit- you're going to have to forgive my nephew, he is useing my account, but nitrous is cool.

I've only used NO2 on little import motors but I must say that I loved having it in there. If my truck was a sand or mud vehicle I would fog it like crazy! I dont think it is that much more "shocking" than any other meens of adding more oxygen to a cylinder, if its setup right. The system in my VW was two stage and came on at 25 and then ramped to 50. The crane ignition I had was designed for nos motors and pulled back the timing as the 1st stage came on and even more when the 2nd stage hit.

really? for who? I'm not trying to second guess you but I cant believe that dumping huge amounts of boost is any less of a shock than shooting NO2 in there in staged amounts.

Boost is easier on motors than nitrous, been proven many times. I think it has more to do with the temp differential with nitrous (rapid cooling as nitrous changes state from liquid to gas in the intake) than the actual combustion though.

You must pull timing with nitrous or broken parts will be had (2 degrees/50HP is a good start).

I build engines for anyone that walks into my shop needing an engine built, i'm an automotive machinist by trade.

If your buying a house? Grow up and leave the nitrous in the garage for now. If your buying a house with a girlfriend? Get counseling... sorry to be blunt but the last thing you need right now is nitrous.
