I need to get my new K5 inpected so I can be completely legal. I just took it to a local guy and he wouldn't do it. Does anybody know anyplace to take it to in North Jersey?

the garage i work part time at might do it. good chance he will he inspected my truck and my dads.

Inspection

Let me correct myself, the guy I took it to doesn't do inspections he has to farm the job out. His guy refused to do my truck once he found out it was lifted. My mechanic now says he can get it inspected at a different shop. I guess I'll find out tomorrow if he can get it done. I need a back up just in case. I'm up near Parsippany.

Bring it down to rockaway service. the owners name is pat. he should inspect it. he did my truck.

if it's more than 4" total lift (lift and tires) it has to go through stability. most of the guys have talked about going to asbury park or down to ancora because the inspectors used a little common sense and were a little more lenient.

you could get emissions inspected at a local garage but you wouldn't have the lift papers and sticker that have to be in/on the truck at all times. get caught w/out them you're looking at a few tickets and possible having your truck impounded. make sure lights & brakes work, front end is tight and if your tires stick out have mud flaps and /or fender flares.

for the past 12 years i've only had 2" lift and 35s on my truck so i just fit through regular inspection. when i get it back on the road it will have 4" and 37s so i'll be going through it too.

either way, call your local mvc office and get the ph # for the nearest inspection station that does stability. you do have to make an appointment.

So I need to get lift papers? This is my third truck, I've never heard of them before. Wow this really sucks, I went with a 4 inch lift because I tought it would be low enough not to have to get the stablity test.

ive never been hastled about not havin that paper. withe rdoes my dad and hes got a f350 with an eight inch lift and thirty sevens. most cops dont know the laws.

it's a shady area in joysey.. legally, more than 4" of lift you need a stability test.. there are 3 in jersey as far as i know, asbury, one in north jersey, and one down by cape may.. i hear the guys in cape may are WAAAAAAY more understanding than the other 2, for obvious redneck reasons..

that being said, 4" lift and 35's, most shops treat them as norm, and inspect them fully.. no tilt test, but a trooper may question otherwise..

personally, I'll be borderline legal to begin with, at 38's and 6" or so inches of lift, so I KNOW they'll be asking me to run stability.. i'll go down south, no big on the test. but they can jerk ya around on other things like mudflaps, etc..

nooone can deny you the standard emisions, etc test, even if you need to do stability, etc afterwards...
