Well I've been searchingfor 2 days for some replacement BFG 35x12.5 A/T. The ones on my '71 are dryrotted to the max. Pieces of rubber larger than a quarter are flying off, exposing steel belting! I've been riding on the one bad tire for almost a week now. It's my only way to work and I can't find BFG tires in that size anywhere. The only brand I can get locally is Toyo Open Country A/T. So I am kinda forced to do so. Please tell me this is a good tire!! Someone back me up with some positive notes.

are you serious no discount, ntb, hesselbien, a to z, goodyear, pep boys, or anybody has a pair of 35s?
i know for a fact at disct. txa05 round rock had a pair of MT/Rs in 35x12.50R15 there. and yes toyos are a great tire.

MT/R? Mickey Thompson right? Too high for my budget. Anyways my tire finally blew out on me. The closest used tire shop only had a 33" so that's what I had to do to get home. Anyways I'm kinda leaning toward 33's mainly to gain a little on as mileage. Then I realized there's little difference in getting 12mpg vs getting 10. So I think I'll just stick with the 35's.

Man, you would think that with all the tire companys in sa, someone would have a tire. Maybe go to Natalia, CD's, I think, that guy sells the hell out of tires. :D

The Toyo's are a great tire so that's one option. If you like your BFG AT's and everyone locally is out of stock and can't order any then order a set online. With the amount of time you'll spend jacking around wtih the local shops you could have them delivered.

Thanks for all the info. I'm gonna try the Toyos out. Man I still need to upload pics of my '71.

heard about a backorder from a friend here awhile back when he was looking for replacement tires, he called them directly and was told it's because thay only make so many tires every year of a certain size, and now with all these vehicles coming factory with 17"-18" tires, and with the huge aftermarket of 19"+ sized tires, they are making those at the moment to keep up with the demand.

they do a rotation of certain sizes throughout the year is my understanding, just have to wait till your time is here for new ones, or have good luck finding someone that still has some available.

Yeah I knew everyone having 17"+ rims was a big factor in my problem. It's all good. The Toyo's will be in in a few days and I will be worry free of another blowout.

I think you made a good choice. The Toyo's are expensive but I've heard they last quite a bit longer than comparable tires.

hard to imagine anything lasting longer than a mall terrain, or mud..... they usually go 50, 60 grand without much trouble...

I have Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 1 ton and they're not lasting nearly as long as I thought they would. I talked to some of the mechanics at 4wheel parts when I was there since they see huge trucks in all day every day and they said the Toyo's always outlast the Nitto's and with good rotation can easily hang in there with the BFG's. Although now that you can get BFG AT's in a load range E they'll probably be a better option for the heavier rigs.

I just got told last week at 4 wheel parts that the 33/12.5 /15 were on backorder also. I think soon our old 15" rims will be a speical order size. Not to Hijack but at Kragen I tried to buy a oil filter for the old 350 and they said no longer a item they stock it was a speical order. I know my truck is 40 yrs old but WTH
