on my 87 blazer tbi 350 the passenger side exhaust manifold was about cracked in half. so i went to the junk yard and picked this one up was the only one i could find close to my year since 88 they changed it and the older style dont work. is this manifold suppose to have some sort of donut gasket the guy at the junkyard said i probaly dont but i dont trust what they say haha. heres some pics

That looks like the shape of the gasket. YOu sure that isn't a gasket that has been on there forever?

If not, looks like you don't need one on that setup. Curious to how that works, the donuts sucks for me.

Try some Permatex ULTRA Copper sealant, its like RTV for exhaust. The guy at my parts house swears by it.

yea its part of the manifold. I think ill try like you said put some sort of sealent on there and see how it holds up. thanks for the reply

From my experience with exhaust manifold studs, i'd replace those studs at teh same time. It SUCKS when they break when you've got the manifolds installed. Soak them with PB blaster, and twist out. Reinstall GM exhaust studs from auto store (unfortunately they are like $10 a piece).

If not that, clean those threads up, and put antiseize on the nuts when you install them.

And i'd put a nice even bead of ultra copper on there, and let it setup before install.

got a new problem went to put the manifold on i can get the front 4 bolts in but the back ones arent even close, about a half a bolt hole off. any ideas why this is:dunno:

Age and casting. Lisle make a tool for this. I'd start in the middle and then slowly work your way out... do the middle ones, then expand veeeery carefully the next one, bolt it up, etc etc.

If its just one, drill the hole out bigger.

But yah, didnt' think of that problem....

You can hit with a torch too, I have had success with that. Heat messed it up and it can fix it.
