i'm not getting any light on the right side(passenger side) license plate light (the one with the black wire). This is the factory (or dealer installed?) step bumper.

i bought a whole new assembly from L , but still no light. The old one was rusted out. The left side/driver's side is fine.

Any ideas?

Three things. First, it looks a little rusty where it mounts to the bumper, that’s how the ground is supplied. Clean that metal off to bare metal so there’s a good ground. Second, that looks like a fuse holder so make sure there’s a fuse inside. Third, that connection with the red wire and electrical tape looks suspect. Undo the electrical tape and check it for a bad splice.

Yes, it turned out to be bad ground. i dremel-sanded the holes and there's no problem now. This step bumper appears to be dealer-installed or aftermarket(?); The spice under the electrical tape was a quick-tap type----definitely not something that would come from the factory. i replaced it and used the green posi-lock connector in the first photo for both wires.

Next step, is there a good LED equivalent to a #67 bulb?
