the new 88 k5 body I bought has my nice lift and drivetrain in it. only I cant drive it cause ive got no lights at all. no tails no hi or low beans and no turn signals. ive checked the fuses and bulbs everything seems good there. according to the wiring diagram the headlight switch gets its power off the "battery junction box" which I think is just left of the brake booster on the firewall. the headlight switch doesn't seem to have power at the connector so a factory fuse or a fusible link im missing? and where does the turn signals get their power? the fuse for them is good and theres 12 volts at the fuse box but nothing works after that. bad multi function switch on the column?

check all the wiring going back on the left side of the frame rail. there are hangers there for the harness. i bet one is broken, moved around and rubbed on a wire. short to ground. double check ALL fuses.

the red wire going to the headlight switch plug which according to the diagram should be a constant hot coming from the "battery Junction box". I tried testing from there to see if I had power coming from the battery as the diagram suggested and grounded it with a test light grounded on one of the studs that hold the steering column to the dash. no power there. I traced the wire back and it seems to go behind the fuse box itself. if the diagram is correct it shouldn't go to the fuse box at all. I took the viper system out and connected all the wires to their original location and everything besides my hi low beams and rear running lights and turn signals work. I fixed the loose connector causing the brake lights to not work so it functions normally. im stumped on this and was kinda wondering if I can run a fused wire straight off the firewall junction above the motor to power the headlights

It doesn't use a fuse, it just uses that big connector to separate the harness in the cab from the firewall.

There should be 2 thickish red wires going into the connector at the firewall that should be constant hot. Check those to see if there is power. If not, trace it down to find the problem. Both have fusable links on the other end.

I should be able to trace the wire from there. if its a single wire from the battery to the headlight switch providing power im thinking theres a cut somewhere on the engine side. ill have to investigate it tomorrow afternoon
