Hello,
So, I have a 83 k5. And right now im having a problem with not having power when i have the ignition key in the accessory position. I had to modify the starting power to a push button. Im wondering if i need to just by pass the key ignition all together and just have a flip switch installed as well. But until i find out why im not getting power out of the fuse box, im putting that on hold. I have checked all fuses and all are good. Also if it matters the pervious owner did a hack job under the dash cutting wires every where, but prior to my problem now i had zero issue and everything worked the way it should be. I just had my rig sitting on jack stands for a year as I rebuilt my transmission, so prior to the transmission issues everything worked perfectly. So im really going nuts trying to figure out WTF is going on here. Any help will be appreciated thanks in advance.

I think I'd make the ignition work as it should. It's not a real complex setup, unless the column is destroyed (which I'd replace if it was) getting it back to stock is better than continuing to modify wiring and add components.

The ignition switch is what feeds accessory, if it's mis-adjusted, linkage is jacked up, or the switch failed, it won't work. And if that switch was already bypassed, then probably points to a switch issue.

Welcome @83k5BLZER, P town :saweet: Former Pomona resident here, moved out in 21.

So you rebuilt your trans, did the starter get pulled when trans was removed ? If so the fuse links might have been damaged or left off. These fuse links are the 10ga red wires that feed the ignition switch, and should be connected with main battery cable at the starter.
