1972 K5, usually no issues w/ the electrical. I drive it down to the carwash and hose some extra mush and moab off the thing, include a good once over of the front inner fender wells (well trimmed). Includes the area near the voltage reg.

When I get home, it doesn't shut off when I turn the switch. This is the first problem. Anyone have this issue?

I did a search on the topic, but didn't see what I thought was my problem.

Second, I failed in getting the switch out of the dash. Is there a special tool or trick, I was trying not to strong arm it out.:dunno:

if you are talking about removing the key ignition, yes there is a right way to do it, with the key in you insert a paper clip in the tiny hole.

its been a few years since I took my old 71 apart though

I pondered the necessity of that hole...thank you, will try that in the daylight hour.
