No Smog in Calif after how many years?

You take the current year and subtract 29 and that is what's exempt at the moment. Our lovely officials are trying to change that again.

4x4High is right. Right now 1975 and earlier are smog exempt. It will change every January. Here is a direct quote from the DMV website ( http://www.dmv.ca.gov/ )
"How old does a vehicle have to be to qualify for a smog exemption?
Vehicles with a year model 30 years old or older are exempt from the smog certification requirements.
Example: The calendar year is 2004- 29 = 1975 exempt year model
The current calendar year minus 29 equals the year model exempt from smog certification."

They just passed a new law this summer that will make it stop at 76. I don't think Arnold has signed it yet. Give him a call and tell him what you think!!!!

I wonder if Arnold has all the proper smog equipment on the Hummer /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif /forums/images/graemlins/whistling.gif

So, 1976 vehicles will be exempt? Or they have to be older then 1976? I better look into this.

ahh no, my uncle has been waiting for his 77 to be smog exempt. if it stops one year short that would be tragic. i better email the last action hero asap /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
