I was driving down the road and my blazer's engine died. I get towed, no spark, engine turns over fine, tbi is spraying fuel and I can hear the fuel pump pressurizing. I checked the fuses under the drivers side dash they are all good via test light. The ignition coil is new, tps sensor is new, IAC is new. Throttle body is a refurbished unit with rebuilt injectors I put on 2 days ago. I have replaced the secondary ignition coil under the distributor cap as well. Pulled the engine codes I was told by the mechanic that the MAP sensor code is the only one he has found.
Would a shorted out tps sensor pop a fuse? If so which fuse would it be? Any other ideas on whats going on here?

My buddy is working on it tomorrow but I would like to hear any ideas yall have.

Thanks

Google "GM HEI ignition module check" and you should find a variety of test procedures. All relatively the same.

I would tend to agree though, if you are not getting spark but fuel is injected, that means the ECM is getting the signal that there is spark, even if there isn't. That signal comes from the ignition control module.

This isn't going to be hard to figure out, don't get too worked up about it.

Edit: I agree with Mark. I mis-answered. Do over. If you have no spark, then you need to verify the coil is operating properly too...the ICM might be ok, but the coil be the problem. All are easily tested with a multimeter.

Every time I see "turns over, no spark", its the same damn thing.
Do they make our ICM's out of bubble gum and faith?

I mean jeezus.... :doah:

it's one of those parts that better be Delco, or it will fail prematurely... aftermarket ones suck...

X2. But they also change timing by up to 11 degrees!

Since it's getting fuel the ICM/EST is working, I would look at coil first. Then it could still be the ICM/EST module.

I agree, it's a finicky module.

But if you look at schematics it can still produce DRP for fuel and fail on spark side.

Couple things about the ICM/EST, it needs heat disapating grease under it when mounted and the screws that hold it in are the grounds.
