Ok so it's not a wheeler, but since you guys know pretty much everything and it is a chevy so how hard could it be? I just bought a 72 el camino and none of the rear lights or any blinkers work. I noticed the fuse was burned out so I put a new one in and instantly it burned out when i pressed on the brakes. So I figure its a short. I find a real obivous short, a couple wires are melted togethor by the fuse box. And the whole cluster of wires is lighting. So I cut out the messed up section of wire and put in a new fuse. It didnt blow, but the lights still dont work. However, I did remove a clip type thing that the wires went thru. I'm not sure what it did (I can post pics if ya want unless someone knows what I'm tlaking about).
Basically what I really wanna know is what the colors mean for the wires for the lights. I'm pretty sure its green and brown for the taillights or something? And to diagnose the problem I was going to hook up tyhe lights directly to the battery and different places down the length of the wire. However, nowhere did they work down the wire but that was guessing which ones were right. What wires can I connect to power and ground and get the lights to turn on?
Thanks guys
