The PO had a chrome timeing chain cover on the 350, but it doesn't have timeing tab. I was looking thru the summit raceing catolog, but I didn't see any covers with the tab. My motor has been running like crap, before and after I installed my MSD streetfire dizzy, helicore wires, and ACDelco R45 plugs. I want to make sure my timing is dead on. I know I am getting #1 spark at TDC, but I cannot adjust for BTDC or advance. I have seen timing tape put on the harmonic balancer. Will this give me what I need or do I need to locate a stock cover? Just doesn't make sence that they sell all those fancy covers without a tab, and no other means of reference.

Autozone has a sbc adjustable pointer for aftermarket timming covers for something like10 bucks IIRC. All 3 of my local stores and both hometown stores stock these all the time.

You know I never thought that there might be a bolt on pointer. I always assumed they were welded to the TC cover. I will check at auto zone today. Thanks
