I have an 87 k5 Blazer 350 tbi, th400w/ np208 t case and 10 bolt rears. When in 2wd driving I here a rattling noise that sounds like its coming from right below the passenger side floor. I can normally here it best when I let of the throttle and slow down almost to a stop. It sounds like something rotating and hitting something. I thought it might be coming from the t case or the drive shaft but I didn't see anything externally wrong yet. So if anyone has any suggestions or has had a similar problem let me know what you did.

Is the CV joint rubbing the crossmember? Make sure your crossmember bolts are still tight.

Does the rig have a lift, or just stock? He would be referring to the front shaft. Sometimes the CV can contact the crossmember, but running in 2WD probably that is not the case.

If it has a lift, sometimes the stock slip yoke rear shaft can be pulled too far out of the yoke of the tcase. This can cause vibs, especially when decelerating. I had that until I went to a SYE and rear CV shaft. Now it is smooth

Oh ok. Yea its not the front shaft because I only here it in 2wd. I have what I think is a 4 in lift with 35in tires. I think both the front and rear shafts are stock. I know they need to be lengthened or replaced just haven't gotten around to it. I've actually been driving it with the same setup for about 6 years now and like 50k miles.

The sound is like metal on metal, kind of sounds like a loose bearing with no lube or something rotating and hitting metal. I only here it when the vehicle is moving. It's really bugging me I can't pin point the sound yet.

If you have lock out hubs make sure the are not locked in.
Check the fluid level in your TCase, that's the #1 cause of failure.
Make sure all u-joints are tight and well greased.

Did you check your exhaust pipe? Sometimes those will get loose and rattle.

Ok those are a few good things to check thanks for the suggestions. Yea the exhaust looked good I didn't see anything rubbing against it

I had my 10bolt rearend gernade on me one time. The noise started out like a simple ujoint noise right before they go, but gradually got worse and worse until it was more of a vibration. Then...:weapon9:

Oh ok. Yea hopefully its not the rear but it sounds like its coming from more of the passenger side floor. I checked my t-case oil and trans fluid, they were both at the proper level. The drive shaft u joints didn't seem to have a play, I may have to jack it up to get the pressure off the joints. Its been in the single digits lately so I have been getting much done since I have to work outside lol. I might pull the front wheels off soon and check the brakes pads to make sure its not just something stupid like a missing clip.
