Although my AC blows decent cold air, it is noisy. Is that the indication that it is going die soon? What is involved in replacing it, difficult? cost if shop did it?
Thanks

I would replace the pump yourself. then take it to a shop and have them evac and fill it. Around 160 for the compressor then around another 50 to evac and fill. I would say.
When it stops, you're probably going to have a crapload of debris spread through the lines, which is why I try not to let those noises go until it blows up.I don't know if this helps you or not, but mine has been making horrible noises for about 5 summers now, but still blowing cold. I keep thinking it will blow up to prompt a replacement but it hasn't.
Just a consideration.
