Hey guys,
Its been a long time since I have posted because I got too cheap to renew my subscription :( but, I am once again legit!

Loving the truck! Drive it every day, until fathers day...

I bought some parts and figured I would have a full day to work on it, and as moore would have it, one thing after another unfolded and my truck is still in my shop :(

First thing:
I installed a gear drive. The timing chain was so loose that the timing mark would jump. I had to file the raised areas on both sides of the middle gear in order to get it to seat with enough play on the back when the cover is installed... hopefully. I buttonned everything up and fired it up.

It is not noisy at all. It is a summit noisy set, and I guess my primary concern is that I did not file enough block behind the middle gear. If this were the case, would the engine even run or would the binding keep it from running? Or am I just expecting to hear more noise that I do?

Also, not sure if you remember, but I almost killed myself last year when I removed the driveshaft without blocking the tires... the truck rolled over me and into the road as I was able to get underneath it enough to escape death. Well, just last night while trying to install a mini torque starter, I arched the positive cable on my tranny cooler line and the frame of my truck caught fire, right above my face. I was able to get out from under it and get to my fire extinguisher. Luckily, before dousing my engine with retardant, the battery cable that is now spot welded to the cooler line burnt a whole in the line, and the fluid put the fire out.

I know, I know, I should have disconnected the battery first, but I have a remote solenoid and the cable is always dead unless the key is turned... but I forgot that I bypassed the solenoid for testing moments before dantes inferno...

Although I am alive and I still have a face, I now have a leaking tranny cooler line... What's the best way to repair this? I will likely need to cut out the section that became one with my battery cable terminal...

Thanks Yall!!

Just replace the line. You don't want any chance of leaking fluid around the engine bay.

What he said
Welcome back, wondered what happened to ya. Just figured life got busy
As far as the timing gear I don't think it would keep it from running, but i have really never used or liked gear drive because they are too darn noisy

I would cut it in 2 and use a compression fitting. Swageloc are used by NASA and they don't like leaks.

Are these lines just steel with the flare fittings? You can get raw lines from many auto parts stores for just a few bucks and then bend them how you need.
