There is somone in my area is selling an 86 xj with a factory diesel. I've had an xj before and liked it. Does anyone know anything about the diesel that jeep used in this XJ?

I think it might be the 2.2L Isuzu? Not 100% sure though. '86 XJ was built by AMC and they bought parts from every major manufacturer at some point. Even put Ford ignition and starter parts on GM motors too.

I don't know the size but Jeep used a peugeot diesel engine in the 80's, I believe that is how they ended up with the AX5 tranny in the gasser jeeps too.
