Preferably somewhat local, although for the perfect truck I'd make a trip.

1986-1988 or '89 on the K5. Needs to have a straight body/frame, complete sheetmetal in excellent shape preferred. Blue interior, no radio hack. (needs to have the knobs on either side to fit my current setup, not sure what year that stopped) Looking to swap (most) of my drivetrain into a different body, so need to be able to just drop my parts into it. Going to be enough work as is. :)

Obviously I don't care about engine/transmission/transfercase/axles, but if it will roll it will make my life easier. I could probably make some sort of road trip, I know you AZ guys have all sorts of awesome rigs down there.

NV4500 I'm too lazy to go check the exact years, but '92/93-95? for the low gear 1st. Would need bellhousing, shifter, probably that's it. Prefer in good shape, if cheap enough maybe I'd fix it.

Even if you see something on craigslist please keep me in mind. Thanks!

I have one that is out of a 92, but it's 2wd and no shifter or bell. It can be converted over to 4wd easily.....and it's cheaper than what is on Evilbay..

You'll likely need at least a 6 inch lift to use that bellhousing on a k5. The driveshaft sits right under the clutch fork.

Yeah, noticed that, thanks though! The 4500 swap looks a lot more expensive now that I've seen advances $800 swap kit. :(

Depending on which year, it's actually less expensive than that. You can get it cheaper through 4wheel parts warehouse. Mine was about 1/2 that.

There have also been some posts about using a SM465 hydro bell and machining the newer NV4500 pattern on it. That looks iffy to me, but I've been told it has been done before.

Another option is to go to a HP drivers side drop front axle in the process.

Hmm, that might be a good option. The bellhousing from AA just takes 4 bolts and has the input support bore. I haven't seen the 465 BH, but as long as the length was compatible seems like it could work. Do you have any threads where this is discussed? It'd be an interesting read.
