none...

All the xj shafts have the vibrator insulators attached at the end that attaches to the shaft coming out of the firewall, your steering wheel column. They are the rubber looking things at the end where they tighten at. You should have no problem with vibration.

BTW thanks 85 octane for the picture.

Got mine yesterday...also got a steering box rebuild kit....we'll see how that goes.

I swore that box was off my brothers 78, but guess it was from his 85. Will check on.a known 78 2wd box next but gotta fight the old shaft off.

So I know I said I wanted an XJ shaft but I'm moving on friday and wanted to fix the steering beforehand so I went to my local U-pull-it today. All I have to say is blazindorito, you are a saint. I got the shaft out, but only after I removed the air box, dropped the steering box, and got charged $18. I dont know how you pull so many, my whole day woulda been shot. Just wanted to give you a bump b/c as far as I'm concerned you're giving these away.

I have 9 xj shafts. I will be shipping some out on Wednesday and Friday this week.
Let me know if you want one and I'll get it ready to ship.

$40 shipped via 2-3 day priority mail.

Thanks for looking.

I will take one, it will work on a 72 K5, correct.

Now I have to figure out how to send a PM

Fitted the one i got from blazindorito and it only took a little work with a dremel on the column end to get it to fit. HOWEVER, it has a noticable 'clunk" while driving that i can feel in the wheel that never had before. The U-joints on the jeep shaft are worn to the point of having play when i grab the steering shaft and shake it up and down. I don't know if it is a common thing or what. Where i thought there was going to be an issue (the slip joint in the center) didn't end up being a problem at all. Bummer but i am going to put the old stock shaft back on and maybe replace the rag joint (although mine looked in good shape) and just stick witht he GM set up.

Better check both ends of your steering setup...my 1974 had splines at the gearbox and splines at the steering end...if the XJ shaft doesn't have splines at both ends, you'll have to weld...that is if your setup doesn't match the XJ shaft.

I would have loved to have been able to get the XJ shaft to fit, but I immediately sold the XJ shaft for what I paid for it and bought a new rag joint. After replacing the rag joint and tightening the tilt wheel...it's tight...couldn't get much better...although the rag joint will get sloppy again in time.
