Hey guys...noob here. I have a 79 K5 that was my Granddad's. My friends and I are in the process of getting it up and running for a hunting truck. The biggest problem is that it's been sitting for the last 4-5 years and a HUGE rat had taken up residence in the engine bay. He chewed through most of the hoses and some of the wires and made the foulest smelling nest you can imagine between the radiator and the driver's side fender. Anyway...where would you guys recommend looking in terms of a resource for figuring out the wiring/hose mess? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you rephrase your question?

I'm not sure what you're asking.

I need to fix/replace the wiring and hoses and have NO idea where to start. Is that crap in a book somewhere?

The engine , and forward lighting simply has a bolt retaing it in the center of the fusebox firewall side . Undo bolt , remove harness(es) . Unclip it all over the engine bay where its plugged in and tied down .

Then you can either repair it , or post up seeing if someone has one in the wanted section . People here kill rusty trucks with good wiring often .

Or you can replace it with a new aftermarket harness .

I would do like Pauly said and just unbolt it from the firewall and swap in a new engine bay harness from a used truck. I rewired my buddies whole truck a couple of months ago and it was pretty *painfull*. No sense changing out a bunch of wires that don't need to be replaced either unless you have the coin and don't mind putting in the time

did you ever get that 205 I sold you in yet???

Not yet. We're hoping to have the tranny rebuilt and ready to go this weekend, then we'll bolt her up.

Pauly&Fordeater, I think that's probably the way to go. I'm going to try to work on it tomorrow. I'll keep you gurus posted on the progress. Thanks for the help.

Cool, You got a rat motor? Thats bad a$$:D :D :D

That's right!!! I have a RAT (living and $hitting in my) MOTOR:doah: Stupid rat. At least we got a good laugh when the squirrel jumped out of the engine bay and just about scared my buddy to death...big 400 pound guy tiptoeing like a ballerina and squealin' like Michael Jackson in the Chucky Cheese ball-pit. It was classic.

What I meant to say yesterday is this. I've been in your position. If its a big, persitant type rat, then he's not going to be easy to get rid of. Get a gun and shoot him. It'll save you a lot of headaches down the road.
