Noob Question of the Day

I would like to start by saying hi, I acquired a Blazer a few months ago and have ever since been trying to read every forum out there to gain as much information as possible. The K5 is my DD and is currently stock with 33's,but one day I would like it to flex like crazy and fit 37's.

Now the question, I'm looking at extended front shackles for around an inch of lift. I've read I can only go about 2 inches over stock length and I'll need a shim, probably 3 degrees to correct the pinion angle. How ridiculous and unsafe is it to have extended shackles and a zero rate in the front and a 2.5 inch shackle flip in the rear to gain about 2 inches of lift, then put extended shocks on it to really flex it out? My 33's rub a little in the front, could I put a half inch lift shackle in to help fix this? Feel free to correct my thoughts, this was just a question the search button couldn't answer :D

If your goal is to have 37s I think a 6in lift would be the minimum you would want. Why dik around doing a 2in then have to do it over again? This is a 6in with 35s and its plenty high for me not all flexy though.

i would just get a pair of 4in lift springs. TUFF country ez rides.
Then the 4in rear flip.

The shackle lift in front is just going to cause issues, lateral movement, and caster issues.

You can get pretty good flex out of 4in lift springs. And 4in is PLENTY for 37s.

Here is a reference pic of 4in springs on 36's

I really like the 3 inch/ 37 look. I don't have a problem neatly cutting the fenders, but it seems like 4 inch is the general size that people go. I was just wondering if there were cheaper routes. Thanks for the help.

I actually like your idea for the simple fact that the shackles and zero rate are a great addition to a lift spring

Although if you are staying with a stock length spring in front I would get a lifted spring, say a 2" spring with the shackle and zero rate and do a 4" shackle flip in the rear

Messing around with the shock mounts can net quite alot of additional travel as can moving your front shackle hanger forward just a bit
