NOOB question....What are zero rates

really man they are just a 1" block, BUT ONE BIG DIFFERENCE...they bolt to the leaf pack. they will never slide out! they also are tapered on the edges. i don't see why you can't make some. it is a thick ass piece of metal to deal with , but if you got the shop tools go for it, i think they are only $80 that's with bolts included. what you might wanna fab up instead is the top plate where u-bolts go thru. i think its diy4x that makes one with a long cut-out on top for the bolt, so you can move axle back or forward 1-1.5" . can't be that hard to fab. either one.
 
Like they said, they are a 1" block that bolts to the leaf pack. Which means they have all of the downsides of a block (like increased axle wrap)
except they shouldn't slide out.

The two advantages are you can move you axle forward or back slightly, or you can raise the vehicle a smaller amount. However, there are better ways to do both of those things that don't cause increased axle wrap, so I consider them a shortcut that's easier to do than the better solutions.
 
It shouldn't matter much if they're bolted to the spring-pack or not.
It's the U-bolts that should hold it together anyway.
 
one more big difference. while a 1" zero rate will increase axle wrap some, it does not do so nearly as much as a 2.5-6" block does. and i have seen blocks come out when the bolts have loosened up a bit. gotta watch them carefully
 
i liked the fact that they bolt in, never know what kind of crazy stress we put on all those different pcs of metal/bolts. i don't think axle warp isn't really an issue till your trying to smoke the tires on pavement....or if you pushing 700hp! seems to me crawlin' over rocks and trails, everything is already being warped and flexed. i know my 5.5" blocks sucked! thats why i put shackle flip and zero rate
