Well, I believe the axle widths are different

What’s important on that D44 is it has both flat top knuckles. So if it’s cheap, it has some value to you just in parts. Depending on year it may also have a power lock in it, possibly on a 4.10 gear since it’s 8 lug

okay i'll ask the guy and see about the power lock. it is a 4.10. he wants 150 for it so i'm pretty sure i could grab it for 120.

Mine is a Dodge Dana 60. And I used ORD’s Dodge offset bushings. I don’t know much about the Dodge D44 stuff.

Parts alone worth 150 . Looks like full time 4x4 unit bearing tho .

Could you swap GM outers from the ball joints out on a Dodge D44 like that to eliminate the unitized bearing setup ?...
There are a lot more Dodge axles around here than GM's in salvage yards..

Yes, spindles and everything out should be same mount. Bolt up everything GM to the dodge knuckles

From my experience with old 44’s, as a whole, they are less favorable than a 10 bolt. The older D44’s use smaller universal joints, later versions. What I do see as a valuable component is that passenger side knuckle. Only the Dana 44 has that, and is needed to do a crossover on any D44 and 10 bolts. Flat top knuckle is needed.

thanks everyone. i'm going to keep an eye on it and see if it goes down more. it seems like the only good part will be that knuckle.
