That maybe my kids new name... :eek1: :pimp:

Some of you have met my boy, Michael. He will be turning 15 here in December and is looking for a driver.

He likes helping me on my build..That is, when he is not playing B-ball, watching B-ball or anything else that has to do with sports. Anyways, he's been looking for a vehicle to start working on. One of my guys mentioned a 65 that he had for sale.

Yesterday we went and looked at it and figured it would be a great project. I crawled all around this thing and really found zero rust except for some surface rust. The body, for being it's age, is remarkably strait. I could only find three dings on the entire body. One on the hood, pass side door and the top of the tail gate. The tailgate might be a bitch to get out, but the others will be stupid easy, being you can get to the back side.

We're still going over plans, but she will get lowered with a hopefully nice garage paint job applied. The engine is a 327 out of a 68 vette that is suppose to be a great runner... Some power steering and disks and I'm going to kick the kid down the road. :D

All in all, I'm pretty excited to get the boy turning some wrenches. If all fails, it was a great $500.00 anyways.

Couple pics..

:dunno:

Open to any info or ideas as always. :waytogo:

Awesome find there. That's a good friend letting that go
For 500 bucks. Worth way more IMO. Sweet first truck. I always loved that body style.

$500:eek1: that's a $3000 truck around here..... its pretty much rust free in our standards

I like it!
5.3 swap with a snail shell should make for a bitchin fun reliable driver.

We're not smart enough to have anything but a carb at our house. The 327 stays. :D

After what I went through on my rust free 69....cough, cough,,,,,fuggin choke..... I crawled all around this thing looking for rust. None really to be found. The bed will naturally need to be redone, but this thing would be so easy to do a quick frame off... :waytogo:

He is a pretty good friend. I sold him my quad some time back for $100 a month until payed off. He is letting my son do the same. Damn cool.

Looks like a solid buy mike!!

A lot of work, but I think that it will be a slam dunk compared to the blazer... 2 wheel drive... No transfer vs two...no tube... no rust repair... the list goes on and on.

Trust me, I know that it will be a good amount of work, but everyone knows that I gave up on a life outside of the garage.....oh, about the same time that the Blazer thread started in 09... :doah: :haha:

Awesome find. I'm really jealous.

I'm pretty excited myself.

You better buy it...

oh, she is ours. :woot: Bringing a backhoe and Bobcat home this weekend. I ended up with a pretty nice big and tall carport this year for free, just need to replace some panels. Going to clear a nice spot up by the garage and enclose the entire thing. It should make a pretty nice garage for tear down and the rebuild.

You might be getting some PM's as I really have no clue how to drop this. Been reading over at 67-72, but there looks like a lot of options. It seems that you can get an entire bag system for 650.00 or so. I need to do a ton more reading though.

I think a recondition/rebuild of critical components to make it safe and somewhat reliable to drive vehicle should be first order, nothing to in depth, but check steering, brakes, suspension, lights, etc. repair as necessary on the cheap, then drive it for a bit, then make a plan of restification!
Welcome aboard Micheal!

Totally agree Dave. I think that we have the time for a quick dismantle and rebuild before he will really need it. It will need to be totally safe before anyone drives it, especially one of my kids. :deal:

Love it! What a great first ride. Way to go Mike.

He has been stuck on 67-72 looking at the pics all night... The kid is in love with big ol' white walls. lol Pretty cool seeing him getting excited about this.

Shoot tell me when you get it bought up and I'll hand deliver this one pre assembled ready for him to wire in.

A lot of stuff is before a fancy dash, but would love to hang any time before too, if ya feel like a road trip. :waytogo:

Look to Portertbilt for killer low air ride and suspension stuff. Not spectacularly cheap, but at the very least you'll get an idea of what it should look like before you either buy or build something else.

BTW, I love my square body stuff, but the 60-66 is still my absolute favorite era of GM trucks. Makes my pants fit funny...
